EXTRA PERLITE FOR BETTER DRAINAGE
Because we do not have control over the amount of precipitation when gardening in the open air, it can be useful to provide extra drainage. Because when coconut gets too much water, it can become too wet for the roots of the plants. The plants will then not be able to grow well, and as a grower we naturally want to prevent that as much as possible. Wilma's Lawn & Garden has taken this into account, adding extra perlite to the Cocolite-22. The drainage of the substrate improves considerably. Excess (rain) water can easily be discharged, so that the crop is not affected by this. Due to the good drainage properties of Cocolite-22, this culture medium is also very suitable for cultivation methods in which the crops are supplied with water via an irrigation system.
Because water is given to the plants much more often with these growing methods, it is important that the excess water can easily flow away through the airy structure of the substrate. The important characteristics of Cocolite-22 are therefore a high oxygen permissibility, an optimum airiness of the substrate and a rapid drainage of excess water!
BETTER OXYGEN ADMISSIBILITY
Everything that makes the substrate looser and airier facilitates the drainage of excess water and improves oxygen permeability. The extra added perlite granules to Cocolite-22 not only ensure good drainage, but also ensure a greater supply of oxygen to the substrate, so that plenty of oxygen can reach the roots of the plants. If the substrate cannot get rid of the excess rainwater, the roots can even suffocate due to a too wet substrate.
HEALTHY ROOT SYSTEM
The condition of a plant is largely determined by the quality of the root system. If the health of the root system is affected, the plant will also start to deteriorate. If the substrate as a base is not good, the entire further growth stage of the plant will be difficult. It is known that the quality of a plant is determined for 50% by the quality of the root system underground. Only with a healthy and large root volume can a plant develop optimally. If the substrate in which the roots grow is not of the correct composition, then the roots will not develop sufficiently and the chance of successful cultivation has actually already disappeared. To ensure that a substrate is of good quality and meets the needs of the plant,
RHP QUALITY MARK
Cocolite-22 uses the fibers that are in the bark of coconuts. These fibers naturally contain a high concentration of salt, because most coconut trees grow in the vicinity of the sea. Such high concentrations of salt are not suitable for growing plants and therefore the fibers are first washed well. After the salt has been washed out, the coconut fibers are removed from germs and / or vermin by means of hot steam. This special treatment largely determines the quality of the coconut substrate. Cocolite-22 is provided with the RHP quality mark (Regeling Handels Potting Soils), this guarantees that the coconut fibers are washed, steamed and buffered in the correct way. When buffering the coconut fibers, magnesium and lime are added to the water in which the fibers are washed.
RHP quality mark
Cocolite-22 has the RHP quality mark. This guarantees a high-quality coconut substrate. The coconut fibers are washed, steamed and buffered in the correct way, so that an optimum substrate can be guaranteed.
